Earlier I posted about the problem America seems to have  with allowing pointless inventions to gain popularity. In other countries, these near-useless items or Chindogu as the Japanese call them, are just for the friends and family of those who make them. Here however, we’ve turned them into a get rich quick scheme.

I present for your inspection, the Marmot IGlove Liner

The IGlove’s purpose is to allow easy navigation of the Ipod scrol wheel

without having to remove ones gloves in the dead of winter.

The key is a special polymer attached to the thumb and forefinger of each hand that allows for uninterrupted contact with the scroll wheel.

You really have to hand it to them.

These people found a problem in nothing, then made a soution to it.

Like it or not, there will always be some faction seeking to rise above another.

However, and I can’t be all fire and brimstone when it comes to the culture, they’re doing great this time of year and the launch of the Iphone

and the Ipod Touch has quite a bit of people clamoring for one.

The next thing they have in mind appears to be a re-envisioning of the Apple Newton.

According to patent photos filed by Apple, it looks to be a touch enabled tablet computer. A new and interesting design, I think we all would like to see how this technology turns out.

Every dog has it’s day.

But imagine if that dog were the pet of celebrity Paris Hilton, become a world-wide icon for dogs everywhere and, just for kicks, taught itself to talk.

That folks, is my set up for the Gphone

This little beaut could be here as early as February 2008.

The rumors have been running since Google’s acquisition of Android (previously owned by the creator of the Sidekick) in 2005.

The only issue behind the idea of the Gphone is it’s price. While many, if not most of its coverage list the Gphone as being free, it will most likely be very cheap instead but even this comes at the price of advertisements.

I think my decision was made a while back. In the meantime, I’m waiting to see what it might look like.

How often has the technology of today been the savior of tomorrow?

I’m sure Alexander Parkes could never have imagined the uses for his sticky polymer when he created the first man-made plastic.

Everyday people are working on devices meant to alleviate  some of the strain of life.  A current trend in Japan are homemade, non-commercial devices called Chindogu. They’re nearly useless but light-hearted and a kick to see. Other inventions are amazingly helpful and are awe-inspiring to watch in action

And then…… there’s the washlet…

A visit to www.cleanishappy.com  is all you need to realize we let too many people fleece the rest of us into buying these Chindogu; these things that absolutely noone needs. My only grudge with technology is that it’s almost become a way for an individual to  get rich without any effort. I know we all like to joke but who seriously needs a $1300 toilet to wipe thier butt??

As bad as things may be sometimes, I never lose hope when I see things like this.

We really can change the world if we keep up the good work.
